Delivery & returns

Getting it to you, and back to us.

What delivery costs, how long it takes, and what happens when a parcel goes missing, arrives broken, or turns out to be the wrong thing.

  • Courier, 2–4 working days after payment clears, couriered
  • Free delivery over R2 500, R150 under it
  • Collection from Gordon’s Bay, free

We order when you pay

We do not sit on stock. The day your payment clears we order your items from our suppliers, and the courier collects from us when they land. That is the whole model, and it is why the prices are what they are.

In practice most orders reach you inside a week. Where a supplier is slower than usual, the product page says so before you add it to the cart, and we tell you the day we find out rather than the day you ask.

Orders are reserved for 48 hours. Stock is released and dispatch begins once payment reflects in our account.

What it costs

Courier, anywhere in South Africa
R150 a delivery, whatever is in the box.
Orders over R2 500
Free. The cart shows you how far off you are.
Collection from Gordon’s Bay
Free, by arrangement. Collect from Gordon’s Bay by arrangement, free.

Outlying addresses — farms, smallholdings, anywhere the courier calls a regional route — can add a day or two. If your address is one of them we will tell you before we ship, and we will not add a surcharge to an order you have already paid for.

How long it takes

  1. Payment clears. Instant if you pay by card or Instant EFT, same day or next for a normal bank transfer.
  2. We order from the supplier. Usually the same day. Most items are with us in two to five working days.
  3. The courier takes it to you. Courier, 2–4 working days after payment clears.

You get an email at the first step and a message when it ships. If anything in the middle slips, you hear it from us first.

When the parcel goes wrong

It has not arrived

Tell us. We have the waybill and we chase the courier — that is our job, not yours. A parcel that the courier cannot account for is replaced or refunded in full, at your choice.

It arrived damaged

Open the box while the courier is still there if you can. If you cannot, photograph the packaging and the item and send it to us within 48 hours of delivery. We collect it at our cost and send a replacement, or refund you.

It is the wrong item

Ours to fix, always, and at our cost in both directions. Send a photo of what arrived and we will have the right one on its way before the wrong one is back with us.

Changing your mind

You have seven days from delivery to cancel an online order without giving a reason. That is section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, and it is your right whether or not a shop chooses to mention it.

Send it back unused and in its packaging, at your cost, and we refund what you paid for the goods within 30 days of getting them back. The original delivery charge is not refunded — the courier still drove.

Something you have already had fitted is not a change of mind, and neither is an item ordered in specially at your request. Ask us before you order if you are not sure which one applies.

Something faulty

For six months after delivery, anything that fails, is defective or is not fit for its purpose is your choice of a repair, a replacement or a refund. Section 56 of the Consumer Protection Act, and again, ours to honour rather than ours to grant.

We pay the courier in both directions on a faulty item. You do not have to deal with the manufacturer — we sold it to you, so the claim is ours to carry. After six months the warranty takes over.

Starting a return

One email, with your order number in it, to sales@solarsmartautomation.co.za — or a message on WhatsApp if that is faster. Tell us what happened and send a photograph if there is one. We answer with what happens next, and we arrange the courier where the courier is on us.

Refunds go back to the account the payment came from. We do not issue store credit instead of a refund unless you ask for it.

Installations are different

This page is about hardware bought from the shop. Work we carried out at your home — a board, a circuit, a camera on a wall — is covered by the warranty page, which also sets out the ninety-day commitment on the savings we projected.
